Jian Zhi’s Layered Paper Art at CIFF Guangzhou 2026

We came across Jian Zhi Art while walking through the decorative art sections at CIFF Guangzhou 2026.

Most of the pieces looked flat from a distance, but the closer we got, the more the layered paper details started to appear. Some works used thousands of folded paper elements to build texture, shadows, and depth.

From far away, several artworks looked almost pixelated. But in close-up shots, the surfaces were actually made from hundreds of folded paper strips placed one by one.

The texture became much more noticeable once we stood near the frames.

One of the most eye-catching works was a large female portrait created entirely from layered paper components.

The colors felt very bold compared to the surrounding booths, especially the yellow hair and turquoise background combination.

Besides the larger statement pieces, the booth also displayed many smaller framed artworks using different textures, patterns, and materials.

Some walls felt more like gallery installations than product displays.

Toward the side of the booth, we noticed a decorative artwork built using folded paper styled like bundled US dollar bills, mixed with butterfly details behind acrylic layers.

The piece looked very different in close-up shots because of the overlapping shadows and transparent reflections.
